Artists involved in the creative industries are a vital component of an area’s job creation and retention. The Broward County Cultural Division and the South Florida Regional Planning Council offer a Micro Credit program (revolving loan funding) to assist with financing Broward-based artists and their projects. In addition, the program offers an Artist as an Entrepreneurial Institute (AEI) to assist an artist’s business expertise to operate their unique enterprise.

The Artist Micro Credit Program is designed to assist Broward-based practicing, professional, and emerging artists, to advance their work and careers. A premise of the program is that “gaps” exist in traditional lending markets and that some creditworthy artists, and their artistic businesses, cannot qualify for financing. This program provides assistance to eligible individual artists and arts-related businesses, who cannot obtain funding from conventional sources.
