Therapy Dogs Arrive at FLL
Therapy Dogs Arrive at FLL
Don’t be alarmed if you see dogs roaming the terminals. These are therapy dogs and part of FLL’s new “AmbassaDogs” Program. Traveling can be stressful and these dogs help in two ways. Studies have shown that interaction with a therapy dog increases happiness and decreases stress. The dog’s handler can answer basic traveler’s questions. Look for the dog with a red “please pet me” bandana.

If you would like to participate in the program, contact us at fllambassadogs@broward.org.

Coming Soon - Sky Waves Pedestrian Bridges
Coming Soon - Sky Waves Pedestrian Bridges
Work recently started to refurbish and remodel the four Pedestrian Bridges connecting the garages to Terminals 2, 3, and 4. The bridges will temporarily close for construction. Signs will direct travelers to the ticketing and baggage claim levels.

When completed in the 4th Quarter of 2014, the bridges will serve as a visual gateway to the terminals with artwork integrated into the design. Artist Laurie Lundquist was selected in an open competition. The most dramatic design features are the “Sky Wave” roof canopy, openness, lighting, and curved guardrails. Waves, wind, and motion inspired the design creating a structure that communicates a sense of enjoyment.

Lee Wagener Art Gallery to Feature Tapestry Exhibition
Lee Wagener Art Gallery to Feature Tapestry Exhibition
The Lee Wagener Gallery in Terminal 2 will host a new art exhibition from October 3 through January 6, 2014. The exhibition titled “Finding Connection” by Broward-based artist, Andrea Huffman, creates works of art on fabric. Huffman aims to connect viewers to her personal experiences and observations of the natural world. Fiber offers tactile and dimensional qualities unlike other two-dimensional media, while essentially maintaining a two-dimensional surface. Ms. Huffman’s intention is to offer travelers a glimpse into the beauty of Florida’s environment through a unique art exhibition, welcome them to our community, and entice them to want to see more of what South Florida has to offer.

Increased Capacity for Wi-Fi
Increased Capacity for Wi-Fi
The very popular free Wi-Fi available in the terminals and Rental Car Center will soon have upgrades. After October 2013, technicians will double the number of access points. This will allow more users on the system. In 2012, about 3 million devices accessed the free Wi-Fi. Over the last several years, usage has increase about 15% per year.
