Final Public Workshop
The Aviation Department held a final Public Workshop on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, from 7 - 9 p.m. at the South Regional/BCC Library. Over 110 people attend the informational meeting.
James McCluskie, Director of the Planning & Environmental Division, opened the meeting and welcomed attendees. Monty Gettys, consultant project manager of the Montgomery Consulting Group, conducted the PowerPoint presentation. After the presentation, five individuals asked questions or made comments. Comment cards were also available for those individuals who wanted to submit written comments.
Workshop for Commissioners
The Aviation Department held a Workshop on Tuesday, November 6 for the County Commissioners. The Workshop covered the preliminary Master Plan Update for North Perry Airport. After an introduction by Kent George, Director of Aviation, the consultant project manager, Monty Gettys conducted the slide presentation. Aviation staff and Ms. Gettys answered the Commissioners’ questions after the presentation.
The Workshop lasted about two hours.
The Broward County Aviation Department held a Workshop on the North Perry Airport Master Plan Update on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 6- 9 p.m. About 90 people attended the meeting that was held in the Multipurpose Room at the South Regional/BCC Library in Pembroke Pines.
The Workshop provided an update on the Master Plan progress and its future schedule. It also provided an opportunity to comment on the proposed facility improvements. Representatives from the Aviation Department and the Montgomery Consulting Group, the consultant conducting the study, were available to answer questions.
From 6 - 7 p.m., attendees viewed the charts, graphs, and aerial photos of the master plan elements and asked questions. The 16 stations included:

- Existing Conditions
- Forecast Summary (based aircraft/operations)
- Demand Capacity Analysis
- Facility Requirements
- Recommended Master Plan Concept
- Capital Improvement Program, and
- Financial Feasibility
Starting at 7 p.m., the presentation included a discussion of the following topics:

- Public Outreach Overview-To-Date

- Aviation Activity Forecasts (based aircraft/operations)

From approximately 7:45 p.m. until 9 p.m., the consultants and Aviation staff heard the comments from the attendees and answerer their questions.
The Montgomery Consulting Group (a private consultant contracted to update the Master Plan) discussed the Master Plan process with the tenants of North Perry Airport at a meeting held on June 27, 2007.
Technical Advisory Committee Meeting
The first meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for the North Perry Airport Master Plan Update was heldon Wednesday, December 13, 2006from 1:30 - 4 p.m. in Room 134/135 at the Aviation Institute in the Broward Community College. The campus is next to North Perry Airport.
The goal of the master planning process is to work together with airport stakeholders to create a long range vision for the airport. The TAC is a key component of this process. The TAC will help identify goals, provide input, and assist the master planning process.
The second TAC meeting was held on May 30, 2007 to update the attendees on the progress of the Master Plan and to seek their additional comments.
Kick-Off Public Meeting
Eighty people attended a Master Plan Update Meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 2006from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Raintree Golf Resort in Pembroke Pines. The purpose of the meeting was to inform citizens, city officials, and the business community about the master planning process and provide the opportunity for community input.
Representatives from the Broward County Aviation Department provided statistics about North Perry Airport, a business update, and airport projects (past, present, and future). The Montgomery Consulting Group (a private consultant contracted to update the master plan) discussed the Master Plan process. Following the presentations, the attendees asked questions and provided their comments and suggestions.
Community input is an important part of the Master Plan process and will assist the County in determining the future needs of the airport and its facilities. The objectives of the Master Plan are to provide an inventory of current conditions, airfield alternatives, land use alternatives, make-up of the surrounding community, traffic forecasts, and recommendations for the airport's future.
This meeting is the first of several meetings where the Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) will offer community outreach opportunities to the neighboring city governments, the business community, and citizens for their input and comments.
