Description of Services

Ensemble Performance
United By Music, Inc. will provide 4 – 6 sting instrument performers to play for social gatherings, fundraisers, celebrations, etc.  United By Music, Inc. specializes in the integration of world music teaching not only a great classical repertoire but also a wide variety of music from around the world. This method not only teaches music from a different culture but it can also teach some students with a genre of music that they can relate to such as Latin, Arabic, Caribbean, Asian, etc. 

The arts provide young people with authentic learning experiences that engage their minds, hearts, and bodies. Arts education helps students learn; enhances creativity, self-discipline, and the skills and confidence necessary to meet the future challenges.  
Our performances encourage students to transform their lives through the love of music.

Juvenile Justice, at risk, seniors, shelter-based, community-based, school-based, after school, summer.  Year Round. (September to August)

Violin Petting Zoo 
United By Music, Inc. will provide 30– 40 minute instrument petting zoo for approximately 60 students in attendance. (20 students in each session). Two instructors and multiple instruments will be provided for demonstration.  Instructors will demonstrate and teach the violin, viola, and cello to the students. The students, under the supervision of the instructors, will be allowed to play the instruments.

Instructors will play several music pieces to demonstrate how much fun music can be. Instructors will demonstrate each of the instruments as well as give students the opportunity to have hands on practice.

3-Day Violin, Viola & Cello Workshop
United By Music, Inc. will provide a 3 day – workshop consisting of 2 hours sessions each day. A maximum of 18 students to be in attendance. Two instructors, books, and multiple instruments will be provided for the workshop. Instructors will teach the violin, viola, and cello to the students. The students, under the supervision of the instructors, learn to play the instruments.
The 3 day workshop allows students an opportunity to practical skills of a stringed instrument and learn to work in a group style environment. Skills learned are; communication, cultural understanding, behavioral.

Te methods used to achieve the educational goals  will be through teaching music history, music theory and note reading, style, rhythm, including basic beginner lessons from the kodaly method and the Suzuki method. A  demonstration of the instruments will be given as well as a performance by the staff. Video, audio and other media tools will be used to display famous performers and prodigies.

The indicators of progress will be at the Q& A end of each class where students will be asked to explain what they have learned and remembered from each day in exchange for a small reward. Students will also have an opportunity to perform the pieces and exercises they have learned.

A recital will be performed at the end of the workshop for parents and guests.

Music Classes
United By Music, Inc. will provide a 10 week violin/viola/cello music classes consisting of 1 hour sessions once a week. Maximum of 18 students per class. Up to two instructors may be provided depending on the class size. Books and instruments will be provided to be used in the class. Instructors will teach the violin/viola/cello to the students. The students, under the supervision of the instructors, learn to play the instruments. At the end of the 10 week course, a recital will be performed for parents or guest who wants to attend.
The educational goals of our services include a curriculum  that incorporates the instruction of how to play  a stringed instrument .  In addition, students will learn  basic music theory  music history, cultural understanding and music education but more importantly a overall appreciation for stringed instruments and music.

Various methods such as video, audio and other media tools are used to captivate a new generation of students while teaching classic material.  Students will watch and listen to performances by past and present string virtuosos and prodigies as well as study many historical pieces and composers. Instruction will also include incorporation of pop, hip-hop, jazz, and rock, as well as the music from different countries. Instruction will be done in small and large group settings going at the pace of the class.

Through the guidance of instructors, students will study works of music/strings in order to understand the cultural and social context from which they come, and to appreciate the technical and/or aesthetic qualities of each work. Students will be given daily assignments to practice at home to help improve their playing and more quickly in class.

Students will be given and opportunity to perform in front of an audience at the end of the 10 week session. Students who prepare small chamber solos or duets may have an opportunity to perform more frequently.

Students will be assessed according to state education standards. Where appropriate, projects may employ multiple forms of assessment including pre- and post-testing. Assessments are performance based at the end of each session.
