Description

Based in San Pedro, California, artist William Crutchfield commented on the planetary evolution in this humorous and cartoonist sculptural cut-out. Attuned with archaeology and cosmology, the artist postulated that if homosapiens are evolved from saline sea creatures, they could have come from a Bubble, a space full of virtual particles and dark energy. He could be right. Who knows. This painted wood wall relief is installed on an escalator wall in Terminal 4.

Artist Statement

According to archaeologists, sometimes during pre-history our distant relatives crawled out of a saline sea and became us. In the sculpture relief, "The Importance of Being a Bubble", I want to show that bubbles too can have great importance especially when an ever-expanding planetary universe in all of its variety is expressing itself."
