Marie Postle Stewart painted in the plain-air tradition of the Impressionists, choosing the beautiful landscape of the state and county parks as subject matter. She especially focused on the atmospheric lighting of a particular time of day. Here, in this diptych oil painting, she depicted a misty river bank in Ocala National Forest, Central Florida.
"An early morning scene from a fresh water river in Central Florida called Salt Springs, in the Ocala National Forest."
