Broward County Parks and Recreation Division announced the schedule for Aquatics Season 2013, at the County’s four water parks: Castaway Island at T.Y. Park in Hollywood, Paradise Cove at C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, Splash Adventure at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, and Tropical Splash at Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium, in Lauderhill. The facilities are open Saturdays and Sundays only for the month of April. More...

It’s All About “Insects” at May’s Nature Tots Program

Broward County’s award-winning Nature Tots program teaches little tykes to appreciate the great outdoors each month. Kids, ages 2 to 4, and their parents can join a park naturalist and learn about nature through stories, songs, arts and crafts, and more. Theme and activities vary each month, and preregistration is required. The theme for May is “Insects.” The program will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at West Lake Park in Hollywood and Thursday, May 23, at Secret Woods Nature Center in Dania Beach. New Program for Aspiring Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses

Learn tips on starting your own business and the action steps you need to take to meet your goals at the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development’s Kauffman Fastrac® program. This series of workshops are for existing and aspiring entrepreneurs. Each workshop is free and open to the public; preregistration is required and space in each workshop is limited to 15 participants. Upcoming workshops:

Free Small Business Seminars at AARLCC

The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) will host seminars in the upcoming weeks that are aimed at small business operators. These seminars are free and will take place in the computer lab from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on two Saturdays in May. No registration is required, but there is limited seating.
