I want to wish you and your family a happy and safe 4th of July. Below is a list of many of the July 4th events taking place throughout Broward County. If you do not see your city’s July 4th event listed below, then please check your city’s website for information.

Coral Springs
The City’s annual Fourth of July celebration will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at Mullins Park. Families are encouraged to celebrate the holiday safely by enjoying a grand fireworks display set to begin promptly at 9 p.m. Food, refreshments and activities will be available for purchase prior to the fireworks display. The event is free, but there is a $3 parking fee at the Coral Springs Gymnasium, Mullins Park, and the Center for the Arts. Mullins Park is located at 10150 Ben Geiger Drive (NW 29th Street). Davie
The Town of Davie proudly presents the Annual Independence Day Fireworks & Family Fun Day at Pine Island Park.  The park is located at 3801 S. Pine Island Road, in Davie.  The event will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013, with activities beginning at 7:30 a.m.  Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. to celebrate our Country’s birthday.  Free cake will be available, while supplies last.  The evening will be capped off with a fantastic patriotic fireworks show at 9 p.m. For more information, contact Senior Operations Manager Matthew Mlodzinski at 954-797-1163 or email at mmlodzinski@davie-fl.gov

Fireworks viewing at Broward County’s Vista View Park. The highest elevation in Broward County is the site for oohing and ahhing, as the park stays open till 10 p.m. to allow visitors to view fireworks from all over the county, weather permitting. Depending on conditions, displays from Davie, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Plantation, Sunrise, and possibly even Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood may be visible. Most of these shows are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m., but you’re welcome to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and come early to get a good spot – the park opens at 8 a.m., and the entry fee is good for admission all day; present your receipt for reentry. Admission before 7:30 p.m. will be at the park’s regular holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free); admission will go to $2/person at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call the park at 954-357-8898. Deerfield Beach
The City of Deerfield Beach’s 4th of July Celebration takes place on Thursday, July 4th at the Main Beach Parking Lot (149 SE 21st Ave.). Come out and enjoy food, arts and crafts, the kid’s zone and free entertainment from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the fireworks show beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Fort Lauderdale
The Fourth of July spectacular on the Fort Lauderdale beach will take place from 12:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at A1A and Las Olas Blvd. It will be a free, all-day celebration. From 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. there will be family activities, such as a DJ, music, beach games, and contests. From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be live music and entertainment. At 9 p.m. there will be a fireworks show. Please call 954-828-5363 with any questions.

Margate
The City of Margate’s Fourth of July parade will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and runs along Margate Blvd from 76 Avenue to Margate City Center on the eastbound lanes. That link will also take you to information about the Evening Event, with road closures at approximately 7:30 pm, and fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

Miramar
The July 4th celebration will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway, Miramar. Call 954-602-3319 for vendor & general information.

North Lauderdale
The Patriot 5k starts at 7 a.m. and is free and open to the public at Hampton Pines Park, located at 7800 Hampton Blvd., North Lauderdale. Please check the North Lauderdale website for further activities.

Parkland
Parkland’s 4th of July Bike Parade - July 4, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. located at Terramar Park, 6575 NW 75th Dr., Parkland. Remember to decorate your bicycles with patriotic decorations for the judging. Trophies will be awarded for the most patriotic bikes. BSO will have a bike safety course set up. Pembroke Pines
Celebrate the Fourth of July by attending the wonderful Independence Day Celebration hosted by the City of Pembroke Pines on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Pines Recreation Center Festival Grounds, located at 7400 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines. Plantation
Please join the city of Plantation for its July 4th parade from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. along Broward Blvd. beginning at NW 46th Ave.

Pompano Beach
The City of Pompano Beach will be celebrating July 4th this year with an all-day Beach Bash beginning at 12 p.m. and Fireworks Extravaganza all along Pompano Beach, from the Fishing Pier to the Great Lawn. At 9:00 p.m. direct your attention to the night sky for an array of fireworks that is sure to impress. Fireworks will be launched from the end of the Pompano Beach Fishing Pier. Sunrise
The “Let Freedom Ring” Parade and Family Fun Day will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  at City Park,  located at 6700 Sunset Strip. Parade Floats will wind their way west along Sunset Strip from NW 12th Street to City Park, where the fun continues with free food, rides and kids’ entertainment. Local businesses and organizations are invited to participate in the parade. For more information call 954-747-4600 for details.

A concert and fireworks show at the BB&T Center will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., located at One Panther Parkway. This crowd-pleasing outdoor event features children’s rides and activities, along with an assortment of food and beverage vendors. Local band Making Faces will kick off the evening’s live music lineup and Grammy Award-winning rockers Soul Asylum (Runaway Train, Misery, and Somebody to Shove) will headline. After the concert, enjoy a fantastic fireworks display. Parking and admission are free.

Tamarac
Here’s what’s happening in Tamarac on July 4th:

A Patriotic Splash Party taking place from 12 p.m to 4 p.m. at the Caporella Aquatic Center, located at 9300 NW 58th St. All-American Celebration taking place from 6p.m. to 9:30 pm at the Tamarac Sports Complex, located at 9901 NW 77th St.

Weston
Join the City of Weston for the City of Weston’s 4th of July Hometown Parade. The parade begins promptly at 10:30 A.M. and will take place at Town Center Blvd. and Three Village Road. Parade route concludes on Main Street. There will also be a run/walk 5K at 7:00 am beginning at Weston Town Center.

The Broward County Commission meets generally on Tuesdays at 10:00 am in Room 422 of the Broward County Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale. (Commission Meeting Schedule and Agenda are listed here: Residents can view live coverage of the Commission meetings on Comcast Cable channels 12 and 77; Advanced Communications channels 64 and 25; AT&T U-verse channel 99, and through the County's website at broward.org/video. The County Commission meetings are rebroadcast at 5:30 p.m. each Friday following a Tuesday Commission meeting.
