Broward Commissioners passed the FY 2012 budget without increasing the property tax (millage) rate. Overall, the budget decreases by $768.7 million from the current budget. The combined millage rate is $5.553 per thousand of taxable value. The majority of taxpayers will experience either flat or reduced County taxes. The FY 2012 budget provides funding to reopen County parks full time, restore Sunday hours at our six regional libraries, and maintain public transportation and social services.
Finally the fall is here, and unlike most places in the nation, we’re able to enjoy some of the best weather of the year! Broward County Parks have a full schedule of fall activities for those who want to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Tennis or yoga anyone? Go to the Parks Web site to see all that is available.

Broward County’s newest mode of public transportation has two wheels, three speeds and a basket! The B-cycle bike share program features kiosks from Hallandale to Pompano Beach, with plenty of locations in Hollywood. Riders can access public bicycles for short trips or for extensions of their public commute. The B-cycle bikes are equipped with a GPS system that tracks mileage, calories burned and carbon offsets. To access bikes, you can either register on the B-cycle website www.broward.bcycle.com or use the self-service kiosks called B-stations. At the B-stations, riders swipe a credit card or key in a membership code any time of the day. When riders are done with the bike, they return it to the same or another B-station.
You can now use your SunPass to park and pay at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport. The most important thing to remember is to use lanes marked “SunPass” when entering and exiting the parking garage.
