Help End Hunger in Our Community: Donate to Broward County's 365 Food Drive
As the holiday season approaches, community food banks are in critical need of nonperishable food donations. Please help meet this need by donating to Broward County's 365 Food Drive, a program that runs all year. Since its start in January 2010, Broward County employees and residents have collected and distributed nearly 29,000 pounds of food to local food banks. You can assist by bringing nonperishable food items to any of the County's 47 collection locations. For collection box locations and suggested donation items, visit Broward.org/FoodDrive.

Complete Streets Are Roadways for All
"Complete Streets" are becoming a reality in Broward County as plans that will lead to safer streets designed for everyone, whether young or old, on foot or a bus, bicycling or in a car are implemented. Bailey Road in Broward County was recently renovated to incorporate wide sidewalks with shaded pathways and trees, and buffered bike lanes. The speed limit was lowered to 35 mph. Broward County has formed a Complete Streets Team to address land development codes, roadway standards and transportation policies, and identify outreach and funding strategies to fully implement a Complete Streets Program. The League of American Bicyclists recently designated Broward County as a Bicycle Friendly Community based on the County's commitment to improving conditions for bicycling through investment in infrastructure, educational programs and pro-bicycling policies. For more information, visit the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization website.
