The Office of Economic and Small Business Development coordinates efforts to support the growth and sustainability of Broward County's small businesses through the administration of programs and services designed to increase contracting and vendor opportunities, facilitate new market expansion, assist in capital formation, and generally provide business services aimed at increasing small business competitiveness and capacity.
Local Businesses May be Eligible for Disaster Relief Assistance
Broward County is one of 12 Florida counties included in a Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster area declaration following frost and freezing temperatures that occurred January 3-16, 2012. The application filing deadline is December 20, 2012.
"This disaster declaration from SBA means that small businesses and those in the agricultural industry impacted by January's cold weather can apply for low interest loans to help recover from losses," said Chuck Lanza, director of the Broward County Emergency Management Division. More...
New Regulations Govern Tow Truck Companies in Broward County
Broward County Commissioners have approved new regulations aimed at making tow triuck companies more "customer friendly". The new rules will make finding a towed car easier, paying to get it released easier and give customers plenty of information about why a car was towed along with an itemized list of charges.
Tow truck businesses who don't compy with the new regulations face fines of up to $500 and suspension of their business license. More...

The Broward Water Partnership is expanding the benefits of the Conservation Pay$ rebate program. Local businesses and property managers can now take advantage of $100 rebates to replace older toilets with high efficiency models that use 1.28 gallons of water or less per flush. Interested applicants can verify eligibility and apply online.

Broward County currently offers three certifications for small businesses, the County Business Enterprise (CBE
