2012 Appliance Rebate Program Now Closed

As part of a grant awarded from the State of Florida, the Broward County Business Appliance Rebate Program will provide $5,000 in rebates to small to medium-sized businesses defined by the business’ power usage less than 500 KWD (kilowatts in demand).  

Eligible appliances for rebates are currently listed as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR refrigerators and clothes washers. One rebate per business is allowed. The County will disperse rebates to local businesses on a first-come, first-served basis.

Program Eligibility
To qualify for a rebate the applicant must:

  • must be a small to medium sized business physically located within Broward County as defined by power usage of less than 500 KWD. This is noted on the businesses Florida Power & Light bill as rate code GS-1, GST-1, GSD-1, or GSDT-1
  • purchase an eligible ENERGY STAR appliances to replace an existing appliance of the same type.
  • recycle/dispose of the old appliance according to federal/state/ local laws and regulations.
  • not resell or put the old appliance back into service

Only one rebate per business is allowed. Eligible ENERGY STAR appliance must be purchased on or after December 17, 2011. Online purchases do not qualify. See Program Terms and Conditions for additional eligibility requirements and rebate restrictions.

Application Information
Rebate funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, for businesses who submit a complete application packet postmarked no later than April 2, 2012. The program will close on April 2, 2012 or when all rebate funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.

Please allow 8-12 weeks after April 2, 2012 for delivery of your rebate check.
