2012 Residential Appliance Rebate Program 
Now Closed

As part of a grant awarded from the State of Florida, the Broward County Residential Appliance Rebate Program will provide $159,000 in rebates to County residents. Appliances eligible for a rebate are currently listed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR residential refrigerators and clothes washers. 

The County will disperse rebates to County residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

*A list of eligible USEPA ENERGY STAR Qualified Products may be found at www.energystar.gov. Purchase of an ineligible product will result in disqualification for a rebate.
**ENERGY STAR freezers and compact refrigerators are excluded.

Program Eligibility
To qualify for a rebate the applicant must:

  • be a Broward County resident
  • purchase an eligible ENERGY STAR appliances to replace an existing appliance of the same type. 
  • recycle/dispose of the old appliance according to federal/state/ local laws and regulations. 
  • not resell or put the old appliance back into service

Only one rebate per household is allowed. Eligible ENERGY STAR appliance must be purchased on or after 
December 17, 2011. Online purchases do not qualify.
Residents/households who received a rebate check during the 2011 Appliance Rebate Program are ineligible for the 2012 Appliance Rebate Program. See Program Terms and Conditions for additional eligibility requirements and rebate restrictions.

Application Information
Rebate funds will be on a first-come, first-served basis, for individuals who submit a complete application packet, postmarked no later than March 16, 2012. The program will close on March 16, 2012 or when all rebate funds are exhausted, whichever comes first. Please allow 8-12 weeks after March 16, 2012 for delivery of your rebate check.  

All rebate funds have been reserved. If additional funds become available, waiting list applications will be considered for a rebate based on the order in which they were received. Only applications received by March 16, 2012 will be considered for the rebate waitlist.
