County Embraces Employee Wellness

Broward County places high importance on enhancing the financial, emotional and physical well-being of its employees. In partnership with its healthcare provider, Humana, the County makes available to all employees the benefits of a wellness program that includes:

• A network of six onsite Wellness Resource Centers.
• A“My Wellness” website and comprehensive online wellness program with educational opportunities.
• Interactive employee activities and team challenges offering incentives for participation.

The wellness program is so popular with employees that nearly 50 percent of the workforce has participated in at least one wellness initiative. The American Heart Association has recognized Broward County nationally as a Fit Friendly company, and awarded special recognition for Worksite Innovation.

If you participate in the County’s health insurance program, you can take advantage of a program called Humana Vitality. This program has three basic tenets: Know Your Health, Improve Your Health and Earn Rewards. Each participant receives personalized goals in education, prevention, fitness and healthy living.
