The rules:
- In order to borrow e-readers customers must be 18 years of age or older.
- Only one e-reader may be checked out to a household at one time.
- E-readers must be reserved in person at the library they will be borrowed from.
- They can only be picked up at libraries offering them
- Must be returned to the same library or may not borrow one again.
- No book drop returns or may not borrow one again.
- Customers must have a “clean” record, with NO fines to check one out.
- Must provide current picture ID with address that matches library registration record.
- Loan period is 2 weeks, with the exception of those locations that don’t have waiting lists, where customers may request an additional week when they check out or return the e-reader.
- Fines are $2 per day if late.
- Customer is responsible for full replacement cost and processing fees if reader is damaged or not returned.
- Collection agency is used as in other situations of non-payment.
- Customers have 2 days to pick up e-readers.
- Must be willing to spend time learning to use the device with a staff member prior to check-out (15 minutes).
- E-readers come pre-loaded with books, new and classic, representing a variety of fiction genres and non-fiction, purchased with Foundation grant and Friends funds and selected by librarians. Previously customers could select a book the first time they checked out a reader.
- Customers may not download materials to readers.

E-readers that can be seen in the catalog at ALL libraries that have an “R” or reference designation are for staff training at this time. They will be available for circulation at all locations when staff training is completed.
