Medical and Health ServicesThe Reference Section, located on the fifth floor of the Broward County Main Library, has an area that includes information on health and medical topics.

Print Sources - Books

The Reference Section provides print materials in the area of health and medicine. Circulating books on health and medicine are located on the fourth floor of the Broward County Main Library.

Note: Books on health and medicine are available at many branches of the Broward County Library and are classified in the 610-619 Dewey Decimal section. 

eBooks

The Broward County Library’s collection of electronic books is available through NetLibrary or OverDrive.

Reference Databases

Health and Wellness Resource Center (website) provides health and wellness information, for the layperson, taken from medical encyclopedias, medical journals, general interest publications, and pamphlets.

Health Reference Center Academic (website) provides full-text articles from nursing and allied health journals. A variety of personal health information sources from Health & Wellness Resource Center are also contained in this academic-oriented database.

This website, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, contains the latest health news and links to web resources on a wide variety of medical topics. Also included is an illustrated medical encyclopedia and interactive patient tutorials.

Consumer health information for patients and caregivers is presented here.

The NSU Health Professions Division Library features a wealth of information for health professionals.

Salem Online Health - website
This online version of the five-volume Magill’s Medical Guide is an authoritative source for definitions of medical terms as well as explanations of diagnostic and treatment techniques for many medical conditions.
