Broward County Library’s Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, The Dianne and Michael Bienes
Special Collections and Rare Book Library invites all Florida artists to participate in the sixteenth
annual Florida Artists’ Book Prize and exhibition.
A panel of qualified judges assembled by the Broward County Libraries Division will review
the entries in February 2013. The winning artist will receive a $2,000 prize funded through the
Broward Public Library Foundation. An award ceremony will be held in mid-March 2013, in the
Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Entry must be original work completed or published in the calendar year 2012.
Entry must have been created or published in an edition (i.e. more than one copy)
Entry cannot be a trade edition (i.e. produced commercially by a publishing house for sale
nationally or internationally).
The artist’s primary residence must be the State of Florida.
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: Book entries must be received in the Bienes Museum by January 31, 2013. All entries must be accompanied by an entry form.
While all artists are encouraged to participate, the prior year’s winning artist is ineligible
to be selected as the winner.
| The Exhibition and Award Ceremony|
Selected entries will be on exhibition at the Bienes Museum after the awards ceremony until
June 14, 2013. Participating artists will be notified if their entry was selected for exhibition
Artists or their representatives are responsible for picking up the entries from June 24
through August 1, 2013. All entries not picked up by August 1, 2013 will be returned to the
address listed in the entry form, via U.S. Mail, uninsured.
By submitting the entry form the artist acknowledges that he or she has copyright permission and model releases for any entry submitted. The artist gives Broward County permission to reproduce images of the book in any format for publicity and educational purposes. Broward County reserves the right to final approval of all text and titles referring to exhibition of the entry. The award winning Artists’ Book shall become Broward County property for the use and benefit of the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, without any restrictions in use, following acceptance of same by Broward County in accordance with Section 18.63 of the Broward County Administrative Code.

In the matter of art considered for display in public library facilities, the Broward County Libraries Division reserves the right to withhold from display any works that it considers inappropriate.
