The mission of the BCHC is “To recognize, protect and support the historical interests of the communities of Broward County and to serve as an advisory board to the County Commission of Broward County, Florida.”

Events
Broward County Libraries Division and the Broward County Historical Commission Present Broward County Heritage Celebration: See It, Save It, Celebrate It!
The Broward County Historical Commission will host the Broward County Heritage Celebration on Thursday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the historic West Side Grade School, 301 Harmon (S.W. 13th) Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33312, where the Historical Commission is located. The theme for this year's event is, "See It, Save It, Celebrate It!" in honor of National Historic Preservation Month.
The program will include a presentation of the following preservation awards: the Judge L. Clayton Nance Award, the Dr. Cooper C. Kirk Award, the Stuart B. McIver Historian's Award and the Historical Commissioners' Award. Refreshments will be served, and musical selections will be provided by flautist Laura Sue, "The Silver Nightingale." Thorn Grafton, noted architect and historic preservationist, will be the keynote speaker. There will also be special recognition of the historical societies in Broward County. The Historical Commission gallery will have on display the exhibit entitled Broward County’s Playground: Tourist Attractions of the Past featuring artifacts from certain Broward County’s early attractions.

Pursuant to Administrative Code, Section 4-6: Whenever a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be designated as a substitute holiday and observed as the official holiday for that year. When the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be designated as the official holiday for that year. |

FROM I-95:
East on Broward Boulevard to River Highlands (SW 14) Avenue. Turn right (south) on River Highlands (SW 14) Avenue to Middle River Street (SW Second Court).
Turn left (east) on Middle River Street (SW Second Court) to Harmon (SW 13) Avenue.
The two-story building will be on your right.
FROM US 1:
West on Broward Boulevard to SW 11 Avenue.
Turn left on SW 11 Avenue to West Las Olas Boulevard.
Turn right on West Las Olas Boulevard to Harmon (SW 13) Avenue.
The two-story building is at the very end of West Las Olas Boulevard.
Street parking in UNNUMBERED spaces is allowed.
