Print Sources – Books and Investment Newsletters

The Reference Section, located on the fifth floor of the Broward County Main Library, has a small collection of reference materials related to finance and investing. Circulating books related to economics are located on the fourth floor of the Broward County Main Library.

Note: Books on finance and investing are available at most branches of the Broward County Library and are generally classified in the 332.6 Dewey Decimal section of the library.  

A small collection of business and investment newsletters, including Dines, Dick Davis Digest, and Dow Theory Letters, is also available in the Reference Section. Daily Graphs, Value Line Investment Survey, and Morningstar Mutual Funds are kept at the Reference Desk.

Reference Databases

Business and Company Resource Center (website) provides links to full-text articles from business journals on a wide variety of business topics, including finance and investing. It is accessible from any computer.

Morningstar Investment Research Center (website) offers accurate, up-to-date data on international and domestic stocks, funds, and ETFs, along with industry and market data, company reports, and Morningstar analysts' independent opinions. Find current and archived issues of popular Morningstar newsletters - Mutual funds, FundInvestor, StockInvestor, ETFInvestor! You may expand your financial and investment education with tutorial videos and the Investing Classroom, build and test a portfolio online, access a financial glossary, and much more.

This web page, of the U.S. Census Bureau, includes County Business Patterns, Zip Code Business Patterns, and Metro Business Patterns.

Economic Indicators - website
This web page, of the Economics and Statistics Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce, provides timely access to the daily releases of the key economic indicators from the Bureau of Economic analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau. Economic indicators include gross domestic product, U.S. international trade, construction, residential sales, personal income and outlays, wholesale and retail sales, retail e-commerce sales, and others.

Monthly Labor Review Online - website
This web page, of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), provides full-text articles with links to related BLS programs.

Survey of Current Business - website
This web page, of the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, provides the full-text of the monthly journal.
