Geek Out @ your library® during Teen Tech Week®, March 4-10
Do teens love technology? Considering that 63% of teens in the United States are online for an average of two hours a day, the answer is a resounding “yes.” But where can teens, especially those without a home computer, get free access to the Internet, video games and software? At their library, of course!
That’s what Teen Tech Week® is all about – highlighting the tech offerings available to teens at their library. While libraries provide access to technology year round, Teen Tech Week®, which is sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), is an opportunity for participating libraries to showcase technologically oriented programs and services to their young adult customers. To add an interactive component to the initiative, each year, teens from around the country vote on the following year’s theme with “Geek Out @ your library” the choice for this year’s theme.
Celebrated this year from March 4-10, Teen Tech Week® at Broward County Library (BCL) will include activities that go on throughout the month. Here’s how you can “Geek Out @ your library”!
