FLL to Offer New Nonstop Service to San Jose, Medellin, Copenhagen and Stockholm

Two airlines at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) are expanding flights abroad. JetBlue Airways begins service on June 13 to Medellin, Colombia; San Jose, Costa Rica on June 27; and Lima, Peru, on November 21. Norwegian Air Shuttle offers new service to Copenhagen starting November 29 and Stockholm on December 1.

Broward County Lowers Animal Adoption Fees

Standard adoption fees for cats and dogs will be lowered to $50. Approved by the Board of County Commissioners, the reduced adoption fee will continue to include a health exam, all necessary vaccinations, required Broward County pet registration tags and a microchip. Birthday Celebration Planned for North Perry Airport on May 11

North Perry Airport will celebrate its 55th anniversary on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join the fun-filled day that will feature a vintage aircraft display, food trucks, classic car show, aviation vendors, live music, an extensive area filled with activities for children and more. Rides in either an airplane or helicopter will also be available for a nominal fee. What began in 1943 as a training facility for the U.S. Navy, North Perry Satellite Field was officially released to Broward County on October 11, 1957, and renamed North Perry Airport. Today the airport is a recognized general aviation airport devoted exclusively to private and business light-plane activity.

Two Special Housing Events Provide Residents with Home Ownership Assistance

The Broward Housing & Community Development Task Force will host two free events to assist residents with achieving and maintaining home ownership on Saturday, April 27, at the Urban League of Broward's Empowerment Center, 560 N.W. 27 Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Potential home owners are invited to attend a Home Buyer Fair from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to learn about the most affordable and streamlined path to home ownership. Current homeowners who may be facing loan default are invited to attend a Home Preservation Forum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Agencies will be available to discuss programs and financial advice to help you keep your home.
