Our four nature centers have long been popular for weddings and receptions. Three have outdoor amphitheaters: Anne Kolb (capacity 250), Fern Forest (120), and Secret Woods (100). All four have halls that come with fully equipped catering kitchens: the Mangrove Hall at Anne Kolb (capacity 210-277, depending on setup), the Royal Fern Hall at Fern Forest (120-175), the Oak Hammock Hall at Long Key (280), and the Julia Hall at Secret Woods (75-100). Anne Kolb also has a courtyard area adjacent to the Mangrove Hall that will accommodate approximately 150. Note: Kitchens are for warming only; no on-site cooking permitted.
Three parks are perfect for smaller, outdoor weddings. The gazebo at Plantation Heritage (capacity 20-40) is located atop a small hill adjacent to a duck pond. T.Y.’s gazebo (capacity 20) sits at the edge of a large lake that includes a dramatic fountain in its center. The Carpenter House at Hollywood North Beach has an outdoor courtyard (capacity 50) in the center of this newly restored compound, steps from the ocean.
At other parks, the same spaces used for meetings can be dressed up for such special occasions as bridal and baby showers, weddings, and receptions. Several parks have conference and meeting rooms, and our neighborhood parks also have community center halls available for rental. Amenities vary. Certain parks may also provide audiovisual equipment.
Once you’ve selected a space that’s the right size for your event, the only limit is your imagination. We’ll provide the chairs and tables (various sizes and shapes are available) - the rest is up to you. Add some basic tablecloths and a few streamers for a simple look, or go all out with elegant centerpieces, fancy tablecloths, and other theme décor for more dramatic effects. Either way, it’s your special event at the park, so express yourself. Our knowledgeable park staff may also be able to provide advice regarding caterers and other Broward County-approved vendors.
