Lunch and Learn Nature Series

The Lunch and Learn Nature Series consists of three monthly lectures, designed for adults, focusing on the theme "Working Toward a Healthier Natural Environment in South Florida." Lunch will be served. A donation of $7 per person per lecture is requested, to benefit the Friends of Anne Kolb Nature Center volunteer group. For more information, call the nature center at 954-357-5161.

Topics

January 18 - "The Manatees of Broward County" - Dr. Pat Quinn, from the Broward County Natural Resources Planning and Management Division's Marine Resources Section, will share her knowledge about the biology of these much-admired marine mammals, what threatens their health and existence, and the county's manatee protection and conservation program.

February 22 - "Protecting and Restoring Our South Florida Ecosystems" - Learn about the efforts to protect and restore both the southern and northern sections of the Everglades, interdependent ecosystems that stretch across most of South Florida. Presented by Lorraine Mayers, a community outreach specialist with the South Florida Water Management District.

March 22 - "Endangered and Threatened Wildlife of South Florida" - Regional biologist Ricardo Zambrano of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will apply his national and international experience as a wildlife biologist to this discussion of local endangered and threatened species, some causes behind their decline, and efforts to recover and protect them.
