Applying For a New Contractor License
- Complete a trade-specific application by:
- Submit the application, fee(s) and required documents (as noted on the application) to our office 10 days prior to your trade's Board meeting.
- The Board will review your application and their results will be mailed to you. If your application is approved, you will be contacted by Gainesville Independent Testing Services (GITS).
- After you have taken your exam, GITS will provide us your exam results. You will be notified by mail of any additional requirements necessary to receive your license. If you do not pass the exam, you may contact GITS and schedule another test.
- We recommend you pick up your license in person at our office.
*Important Notes:
- Contractor certification includes an exam for the trade plus a business and law exam.
- Journeyman certification does not require a business & law exam.
- 70% or higher constitutes a passing grade except for the Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical and Engineering exam, which is 75%.
