Workforce Development & Education
The OESBD provides assistance to Broward County businesses and relocating companies and corporations by assisting in the coordination of activities and initiatives which support workforce development and education in Broward County.
Past Program Award Recipients

CBeyond, Inc.
CBeyond, Inc. was awarded $112,504 in Quick Response Training (QRT) funding for training of 100 new full-time employees on March 12, 2008. CBeyond was approved on February 2, 2009 for the sum of $55,204.00 to train an additional 55 employees.

Marine Industry Quick Response Training
Marine Industry Quick Response Training (QRT) grant on for the sum of $48,000 with a goal to train 120 people within Florida marine industry companies with basic knowledge of exporting goods, products, and services in international markets, while providing these companies with the necessary building blocks that will enable them to broaden their global outreach. The objective of the training grant for the marine industry is to create jobs and new capital investment through the expansion of local marine companies. The average annual wage of those to be trained under this grant will be $45,000.

Development Review and Permitting Assistance
The OESBD provides direct project assistance to businesses by assisting in coordination of the development review and permitting process. Coordinating with both County and municipal partners, the OESBD helps businesses navigate the permitting process and make the proper contacts to keep projects moving on time.
Past Program Award Recipient
- Kaplan University
Kaplan University was provided assistance through Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development for the addition of a new traffic light. The Office of Traffic and Engineering provided a study that justified that a traffic light at the aforementioned intersection was necessary due to the influx of traffic during peak hours from the addition of 660 new Kaplan University employees that the development would bring in.
Disaster Recovery Assistance
Business Recovery Centers are focused on recovering clients from a disaster as quickly and seamlessly as possible so they can keep their business running. The OESBD also manages the Governor's Bridge Loan Program which provides low or no interest loans to Broward County businesses that have been adversely impacted by disasters. Broward County has not needed the Governor's Bridge Loan Program since 2005.
