Are You a Poet and You Know it!

April is Poetry Month and Broward County's African-American Research Library and Cultural Center at 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., in Fort Lauderdale is hosting it's Annual Poetry Slam beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. There are four categories of poetry awards for ages ranging from 13 - 16, 17 - 19, 20 - 24 and 25 years old and over. Participants can recite their own original poems or choose other poems to read. A panel of judges will consider the poem’s merit, dramatic appropriateness and level of difficulty, and overall performance.The event is free and open to the public. County's Water Parks Open on Weekends in April

Aren't we lucky living here in South Florida? While the rest of the country is getting clobbered with extreme weather, we are fortunate to enjoy warm temperatures and sunshine. The County's four water parks, Paradise Cove in Pembroke Pines, Tropical Splash in Lauderhill, Splash Adventure in Deerfield Beach and Castaway Island in Hollywood are open Saturdays and Sundays in April. Animal Care and Adoption Announces 2014 Rabies Clinic Calendar

Broward County Animal Care and Adoption reminds all pet owners that rabies vaccinations and pet registration tags are required by law. In 2014, residents can bring their pets to one of a number of Rabies Clinics in a variety of locations throughout the County. When a target goal of 100,000 pet registration tags is reached, 100 percent of the pet registration funds will go directly to support low-to-no cost sterilization programs. More... 
 
The 2014 Rabies Clinics are held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include:
 
April 19 - Pompano Beach, Animal Care and Adoption Shelter, 3100 N.W. 19 Terrace
May 3 - Hollywood, David Park, 510 N. 33 Court 

Participate in the 2014 Monthly Business Development Workshop Series

Broward County's Office of Economic and Small Business Development is hosting a 2014 Business Development Workshop series designed to provide tips and tools to assist in sustaining, expanding and improving local businesses. The goal of the series is to position small businesses to take advantage of local opportunities to grow their reach beyond Broward County.
